Do I sound completely insane when I say I love India and I've never actually been there? Who am I kidding? Of course I do!
Weeelll.... to me, the idea of never being there but fantasizing about it day and night seems completely normal. While as other people might say otherwise.
This short but very interesting piece I wrote for you will make you view India in a whole another way, a more deeper, more profound way <3 <3

[Written for my 10th Grade United Nations Day Speech]
I first started obsessing over India in 2009. I was sitting in my living room watching American Idol when I spotted a contestant who blew my mind. His name was Anoop Desai and yes, he was Indian.
I guess after that India was more than just a country to me. It was a place where people from different cultural and religious backgrounds lived together as a nation. India not only attracts tourists from all over the world but crazy, courageous people like me in East Africa.
A lot of you ask me why I love India, but the easier question would be, why wouldn’t I love India? I’ll tell you one thing: India is joy, its happiness, its excitement. India and its people stand out as natural and unique. I love India but I don’t have a specific reason. Well for me, India defines perfection, diversity and beauty at the same place. As you know, India is a diversified country but that’s not the reason I like it. It’s kinda weird I guess.
After I started liking India, I kind of got carried away. As some of you know India is where I want to go to college, where I want to work and where I want to live. I know it seems pretty thought out but it’s not. It’s already made a big impact on my life somehow. But I am glad it did because after all, India is a nice country. And I wish to take these big dreams and turn them into a big show of success. Gandhi said and I quote: “To believe in something and not to live it is dishonesty”.
I guess I have to tell you what inspires me. That’s pretty easy, the people, the culture, the movies, the music, and the food. I’ve never met ignorant, self centered Indian people so I assume that they are all sociable. My favorite Indian movie is Slumdog Millionaire, my favorite Indian music is “Jai ho” And my favorite Indian food is Chicken chutney with rice and chapatti. My motto is if it’s spicy it’s good.
To conclude, I would like to say that, I know my future has to do with India. India is something in my life I know I am passionate about, something positive and permanent.
So what I’m trying to say is, don’t let your crazy imaginations slip from your hands and I think Gandhi agreed with me when he said “Keep your thoughts positive because your thoughts become your words." Keep your words positive because your words become your behavior. Keep your behavior positive because your behavior becomes your habits. Keep your habits positive because your habits become your values. And keep your values positive because you values become your destiny".
